Salary Tax Calculator Pakistan 2026-27 with FBR Slabs
Our salary tax calculator applies the FBR slabs for tax year 2027 (July 2026 to June 2027) to your monthly or yearly pay. It shows the tax per month, the tax per year and your take home salary. You can also compare it with last year as an income tax calculator for 2025-26.
How to Use the Salary Tax Calculator
Type your gross salary and say whether it is per month or per year. Pick the tax year, then add any bonus or arrears you expect this year. If part of your pay is tax free under your contract, put the yearly amount in the tax free box.
The salary tax calculator turns everything into a yearly taxable income, because the FBR slabs are yearly. It finds your slab, works out the tax and divides it by 12. You see the tax per month, the tax per year, the effective rate and the slab table with your row marked.
The salary tax calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, so you can try different salaries freely.
FBR Salary Tax Slabs for Tax Year 2027
The Finance Act 2026 changed the salary tax slabs from 1 July 2026. We took the table below from the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 as amended up to 30 June 2026, published by the FBR. It sits in the First Schedule, Part I, Division I.
| Annual taxable income | Tax |
| Up to Rs 600,000 | 0 |
| Rs 600,001 to 1,200,000 | 1% of the amount above Rs 600,000 |
| Rs 1,200,001 to 2,200,000 | Rs 6,000 + 11% above Rs 1,200,000 |
| Rs 2,200,001 to 3,200,000 | Rs 116,000 + 20% above Rs 2,200,000 |
| Rs 3,200,001 to 4,100,000 | Rs 316,000 + 25% above Rs 3,200,000 |
| Rs 4,100,001 to 5,600,000 | Rs 541,000 + 29% above Rs 4,100,000 |
| Rs 5,600,001 to 7,000,000 | Rs 976,000 + 32% above Rs 5,600,000 |
| Above Rs 7,000,000 | Rs 1,424,000 + 35% above Rs 7,000,000 |
Each rate applies only to the part of your income above the start of your slab. The fixed amount covers all the slabs below yours. A raise that moves you into a new slab never cuts your take home pay, because only the extra rupees pay the higher rate.
These rates are for salaried people. The law applies them when salary is more than 75% of your taxable income. If most of your income comes from business or rent, a different table applies and this page is not the right tool.
How Monthly Salary Tax Is Worked Out
Your employer deducts tax from each month of pay. To find the tax per month, an income tax calculator spreads the yearly tax across 12 months. Our income tax calculator follows the same method, which is why it asks for the full year first.
Example: Rs 150,000 a Month
A salary of Rs 150,000 a month is Rs 1,800,000 a year. That falls in the third slab, so the tax is Rs 6,000 plus 11% of Rs 600,000. The yearly tax is Rs 72,000, which is Rs 6,000 a month.
Your take home pay is Rs 144,000 a month. These are the numbers already in the form, so the salary tax calculator shows them as soon as the page loads.
Example: Rs 300,000 a Month
At Rs 300,000 a month the yearly income is Rs 3,600,000. The tax is Rs 316,000 plus 25% of Rs 400,000, which is Rs 416,000. Spread over 12 months, that is Rs 34,666.67 of tax each month.
Under the old slabs, an income tax calculator for 2025-26 gives Rs 466,000 for the same salary. So this person saves Rs 50,000 in tax year 2027.
Example: Rs 80,000 a Month
A yearly income of Rs 960,000 sits in the 1% slab. Only Rs 360,000 is above the zero band, so the tax is Rs 3,600 a year or Rs 300 a month. Run any low or middle salary through the income tax calculator and the change is small.
What Changed From Tax Year 2026
The first three slabs stayed the same. The big change is in the middle and top bands. The 23% band fell to 20% and the 30% band fell to 25%. The 35% rate now starts above Rs 7 million instead of Rs 4.1 million, with new 29% and 32% bands in between.
Tax year 2026 also had a surcharge for salaried people. When taxable income was above Rs 10 million, 9% of the tax was added on top. The Finance Act 2026 removed it for income under the head salary, so no surcharge applies in tax year 2027.
Pick tax year 2026 in the salary tax calculator to see last year's figure. Our income tax calculator then shows how much more or less you pay in the new year. People with high salaries see the biggest drop.
Gross Salary, Taxable Income and Take Home Pay
Gross salary is everything your employer pays before deductions. Taxable income is what is left after any part the law treats as exempt. Take home pay is what reaches your account after tax and other deductions, such as provident fund.
Our salary tax calculator takes off only income tax. If your payslip also shows provident fund, a loan or EOBI, subtract those yourself. The FBR tax calculator idea is the same everywhere. Get the yearly taxable figure right and any income tax calculator gives the same answer.
- Bonus and arrears paid in the year add to taxable income.
- Tax free parts lower taxable income, so enter only what your employer actually exempts.
- Pension from a former employer has its own rule and is not part of this salary table.
Filer Status and Your Annual Return
Most salaried people still file a yearly return with the FBR, even when the employer has already deducted the tax. Being on the active taxpayer list lowers the tax taken on many bank, vehicle and property deals. Your salary tax itself is the same whether you are a filer or not.
Compare the result of any FBR tax calculator with the tax certificate your employer gives you at the end of the year. A gap often comes from a bonus, an exempt allowance or a change of job in the middle of the year.
Common Mistakes
- Applying the rate to the whole income instead of the part above the slab start.
- Using last year's slabs after 1 July 2026.
- Forgetting a bonus that pushes income into the next slab.
- Adding the 9% surcharge to a tax year 2027 salary.
Check each of these and your monthly salary tax will match the payslip. Our salary tax calculator gives a clear estimate, but your employer and the FBR have the final figure. For complex cases with other income, speak to a tax adviser.
